I heard a short story about the chickens from Bishop David Oyedepo far back in 2009 when preached at a youth convention.
He said and I paraphrase, “Never be in a hurry to be KNOWN, as much as much you must be in a hurry to KNOW…when the feed is ready and dished out, the chickens shall appear”.
Those words stuck with me till date.
In other words, your primary focus on carrying out your assignment on earth, should be to identify your message, to understand it, apply it and share it…
Who will listen or read your message should be the least of your worries.
When your message is ready and you dare to share it, your audience shall appear.
No wonder, we witness today the mighty works from that great man of God despite the location where that message took him.
Let me take it a bit further…
In building our personal brand, sometimes, we tend focus on the wrong thing, one of which is…
The “WHO” will listen to my message?
To the extent where you; wait to find an audience, strive to get the attention of people, or worst still, wait for the approval of people, without first dealing with the core…
The WHAT they should listen to and the WHY they should listen to you in the first place…your MESSAGE.
I call this the “ATTENTION OR APPROVAL SYNDROME”; where you tend to build your personal brand around external factors (people who give you attention or approval), rather than what you were wired for.
At the very essence of your personal brand is your message; WHAT you have to say and do, and WHY you have to say it and do it.
So today, as you go, let this mind be in you, who will buy my idea, who will listen to my message, should be least of your worries.
Your duty is to identify your message, understand it, use it and share it, your audience shall appear.
Let me know your thoughts.
