One of the misconceptions people have about personal branding is that you have to be an extrovert, and generally an outgoing person to build your personal brand. Whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, you can build your personal brand without giving your personality.
Let’s define what personal branding is; Personal branding is the conscious and intentional effort to create and influence public perception of an individual by positioning them as an authority in their industry, elevating their credibility, and differentiating themselves from the competition, to ultimately advance their career, increase their circle of influence, and have a larger impact.
Those who know me closely, know that I am an introvert and would generally be all by myself with a good book
So how do you express your voice, and build your personal brand, even if you are an introvert?
1. – Building an authentic personal brand requires you embrace your unique personality. You don’t have to be the loudest in the room to be a voice. Know thyself.
2. : Know what works for you and use that to build momentum. What I mean is, if as an introvert you’re comfortable with just expressing your voice through writing and not on video at this time, do that. As you build mastery, so will your confidence and then the need to use other medium to express your voice will follow.
3. – Pursue your purpose, pursue the things that bring you meaning. Let purpose fuel you, not people. People come and go. Purpose will always lead you to your people.
4. – there is a huge tendency to lean towards perfection as introverts. We want things perfect before we go all in, resist that urge. Rather, enjoy the process and take delight in your journey.
